New Animation, ‘CATSAWAY’ Takes Abu Dhabi On A Nostalgic Roller-coaster





The animations is set in the heart of Abu Dhabi in the 1900’s, where signature landmarks such as the Volcano Fountain, the Old Souq and the Clock Tower which were of global importance. Catsaway movie is that of its hero, Anbar, a charming but spoiled house cat who is thrown out of his home one day and forced to live among the dangerous alley cats and Mafia felines of Abu Dhabi’s underworld. There he becomes an unlikely and reluctant hero who must choose between saving himself and the girl he loves, and a colony of stray cats facing extermination by the local government.

Multi-talented Emirati director Fadel Al Mheiri, turns his hand to a new art form. With his success at the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) for his live-action “guerilla” movie Abood Kandaishan (which was nominated for 2014’s Muhr Emirati award), is now exploring new horizon’s with animation. The producers of the film are currently in the process of producing a trailer, now that the computer animation is complete. Fadel Al Mheiri’s partners include an Irish production house who handles the technical side of animation.

A true nostalgic rollercoaster for Abu Dhabi, has left not only the Arabian cinema in anticipation, but also to fans across the globe. The trailer is to be released in September/ October this year.
