Oldboy, stars Choi Min Shik, as Dae Su, a man who is wrongfully imprisoned for 15 years and who sets out to exact his revenge on the person responsible for it. The film follows his quest for revenge and his romance with Mi Do, a young chef. Considered one of director Park Chan Wook’s best films, the film is deemed a must-watch due to both its plot and cast. The film also stars Yoo Ji Tae as Lee Woo Jin and Kang Hye Jung as Mi Do.
A popular choice for fans of Korean horror and monster films, the Host centres around a family who try to save their young daughter who falls victim to a vicious monster. Starring actor Song Kang Ho as Park Gang Du, the movie is at times terrifying and at times heart-warming. The Host is directed by Bong Joon Ho, who directed Memories of Murder (2003). Directed by Kwak Jae Yong, the film has been remade several times in other countries and has achieved explosive popularity.
THE MAN FROM NOWHERE (2010)
This tells the story of Cha Tae Sik, a pawn shop owner and his friendship with Somi, the little girl next door. H tries to find her after she is kidnapped by a group of gangsters. Directed by Lee Jeong Beom and starring popular actor Won Bin ad child actress Kim Sae Ron, the film has been awarded several prestigious awards and is considered a must-watch.
A film that depicts motherly love, Mother tells the story of Do Joon and his mother. Do Joon is accused of the murder of a young girl. The film shows the lengths to which his mother will go to prove his innocence. Directed by Bong Joon Ho and starring, Kim Hye Ja as the Mother and Won Bin as Do Joon, the film is a well-acted and wonderfully directed. The film also won awards at the Grand Bell Awards, the Blue Dragon Film Awards and many others.
