Jeffrey Tambor to Be Honored at Israel Film Festival

The L.A.-based festival will present its Cinematic Achievement Award to Israeli film star Lior Ashkenazi.

Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor will be honored with the 2017 IFF Achievement in Television Award at the 31st Israel Film Festival’s opening night gala, which will be held Nov. 5 at the Steve Tisch Cinema Center at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.

The fest will present its 2017 IFF Cinematic Achievement Award to Israeli film star Lior Ashkenazi, winner of this year’s Israeli Academy Ophir Award as best actor for his work in Foxtrot.

The fest’s opening night film is Yariv Mozer’s documentary Ben-Gurion, Epilogue, winner of this year’s Ophir Award for best documentary, and will screen following the award presentation at the Saban, festival founder and exec director Meir Fenigstein has announced.

This year’s festival chairman is Adam Berkowitz, CAA co-head of TV. Serving as honorary chairman is Arnon Milchan, owner of New Regency Productions.

The festival will run from Nov. 5 to Nov. 21, with screenings taking place at the Ahrya Fine Arts by Laemmle (Beverly Hills), Laemmle Royal Theater (West L.A.) and the Laemmle Town Center 5 (Encino).

Among the films on tap are  LongingThe Testament, Scaffolding, Azimuth, The Cakemaker, Heroine, Holy Air, In Between, Maktub and The Cousin, while the documentaries include Muhi and When the Smoke Clears. The IFF will also present the second season premieres of two of Israel’s most popular television programs, Fauda and Mossad 101.
