In a recent statement, acclaimed director Seenu Ramasamy responded to the allegations of harassment and shed light on the circumstances surrounding the removal of actress Manisha Yadav from his film. Here are the key points from his perspective:
On Why Manisha was Removed from the Film: Ramasamy explained that logistical issues played a role in the decision, stating, “We stayed in different hotels, and she came to the location two days after we started shooting. I gave her the dialogue, and after the take, I realized that I needed to give her the script beforehand so that she could prepare for the role. I also realized that she was not suitable for that village girl character.”
On the ‘Mistake’ that Happened on Set: The director revealed that they considered offering Manisha the role of Vishnu’s pair, but she declined. He mentioned, “We thought of giving her the character of Vishnu’s pair, but she refused that role. She said that she had given her dates to some other film, and we also gave her compensation for that.” Ramasamy acknowledged removing many male characters in his films and admitted to an error in asking her to pair up with another character on the spot, stating, “Maybe, this had hurt her, she would have spoken about this issue to the YouTuber and stated that we removed her from the film. Perhaps, I shouldn’t have done that to her because that’s not ethical. But even at that time, I thought that I should not miss working with this talented girl.”
On Reaching Out to Manisha After the Controversy Blew Up: Ramasamy shared that he attempted to communicate with Manisha through his team, expressing interest in casting her for a lawyer character in his upcoming film with Madhampatty Rangaraj.
As the controversy unfolds, both sides present their perspectives, adding layers to the narrative surrounding Manisha Yadav’s departure from Seenu Ramasamy’s film.
