Actress Sonu Gowda is elated to observe a positive transformation in the portrayal of women in films. She remarked, “When I began my career, female actors were largely offered conventional, stereotypical roles. However, as women’s roles in society evolve, so does their representation in cinema.” Sonu, who is gearing up to start shooting for her upcoming project, a Kannada film titled Sidlingu 2, mentioned that the film will adopt a fresh approach to the storyline of the original film, Sidlingu. She emphasized that the new film will not resort to double entendres. Praising the director, Vijayaprasad, Sonu stated, “His films consistently provide strong roles for female leads.”
Reflecting on her own career, Sonu acknowledged that some of her early choices might not have fully showcased her acting potential. She stated, “Maturity leads to a change in perspectives and vision. This growth is definitely evident in the way I am selecting scripts nowadays. I am now more deliberate in choosing the roles I take on.”
Sonu also commented on the evolving landscape of film writing, noting, “Film writers are recognizing the significant contributions women are making in every aspect of life. This is mirrored in today’s scripts, which are offering actresses more powerful and substantial characters on screen.” She further added that recent releases in cinemas have demonstrated that “female-driven stories tend to resonate better with audiences.”
