In a much-anticipated cinematic retelling of the ancient Indian epic ‘Ramayana’, renowned actor Yash has joined the cast and is also set to co-produce the film, helmed by acclaimed director Nitesh Tiwari.
Ranbir Kapoor, who is portraying the iconic character of Ram, is reportedly charging a staggering Rs 75 crore for his role. In contrast, ‘KGF’ star Yash has decided not to charge his usual Rs 80 crore fee. Confirming Yash’s involvement as a co-producer, Zoom reports that despite being initially offered the role of Ravan, Yash opted to join the project as a producer instead.
Ranbir Kapoor has not only committed to his role as a producer but has also dedicated himself to embodying the purity and essence of Ram’s character. Reportedly, Kapoor has refrained from consuming alcohol and meat to align himself with the spiritual and virtuous portrayal of Lord Ram.
However, the production of ‘Ramayana’ faced initial setbacks when leaked images surfaced, revealing the cast’s costumes and character designs. In response, director Nitesh Tiwari has reportedly imposed strict measures, including a no-phone policy on set, to prevent further unauthorized leaks and maintain the project’s secrecy and integrity.
Set for a grand release in the latter half of 2025, the film has already sparked widespread interest, especially after lead actor Ranbir Kapoor shared insights into his rigorous preparation regimen. With Yash’s foray into production, alongside the stellar ensemble cast led by Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, ‘Ramayana’ promises to be a magnificent epic drama.
