Actress Vidya Balan, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ co-starring Pratik Gandhi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Ileana D’cruz, recently opened up about the challenges she has faced in the industry while doing female-led films. During the promotions of the film, Vidya shared her experiences and revealed that she has encountered male actors who are hesitant to work in films that feature strong roles for women.
In a conversation with The Indian Express, Vidya expressed her views on the current state of the film industry. She highlighted that despite the progress the industry has made, male actors continue to feel uncomfortable with the idea of women leading films and potentially taking the spotlight. However, Vidya believes that it’s the loss of these male actors for missing out on more exciting and innovative films driven by strong female leads.
Vidya Balan has had a prolific career marked by critically acclaimed and commercially successful female-centric films such as ‘No One Killed Jessica,’ ‘The Dirty Picture,’ and ‘Kahaani,’ among others.
Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ explores themes of marriage and extra-marital relationships. The rom-com is set to release in theaters on April 19.
