Actress Zazie Beetz, known for her roles in “Joker” and “Deadpool 2,” has been cast as the lead in “They Will Kill You,” the inaugural film from Nocturna, a horror label established this year by Skydance and filmmakers Andy & Barbara Muschietti.
Written by Kirill Sokolov and Alex Litvak, with Sokolov set to direct, the movie centers on a woman who unknowingly enters a sinister community within a New York City high-rise while responding to a housekeeping job ad. The building has a history of mysterious disappearances over the years.
Producing the film are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, the Muschiettis, and Dan Kagan, alongside Nocturna Co-Heads of Film Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder.
Nocturna, launched in 2024, aims to deliver high-quality horror content for both theatrical release and streaming platforms to global audiences.
Andy and Barbara Muschietti are concurrently involved in “Welcome to Derry,” a prequel series for Max based on Stephen King’s IT franchise, which they previously adapted into a successful two-part film series grossing $1.17 billion worldwide. The Muschiettis maintain a first-look deal with Warner Bros., with Andy slated to direct “Batman: Brave and the Bold.”
