The office of veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher was targeted in a robbery late Wednesday night. Thieves broke into the premises, stealing cash and valuables worth approximately ₹4.15 lakh, according to official reports.
The robbers forcibly entered the office by breaking through two doors and made away with a safe from the accounts department. Although the safe could not be opened by the thieves, they managed to steal other items, including the negatives of the film “Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara,” produced by Kher’s company. The film negatives were kept in a box, and Kher speculated that the thieves might have mistaken them for a bag of cash.
Discussing the incident, Kher explained, “The negative reel was in a bag. The thief probably thought there was money in the bag, so he took it. A significant amount of petty cash also went missing, around ₹4 lakh.”
The actor added that the old building’s limited CCTV coverage made it challenging to capture detailed footage. However, available video evidence showed two individuals involved in the break-in. Kher mentioned that the police have committed to identifying and apprehending the suspects soon.
Anupam Kher’s office has officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident. The police are actively investigating and have assured Kher of swift action to bring the culprits to justice.
