Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest web series “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar” has captured significant attention for its opulent portrayal of a bygone era filled with intrigue and luxury. Praised as one of the standout shows of the year, it has garnered acclaim not only for its stellar cast and compelling narrative but also for its breathtaking set designs.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, production designer Subrata Chakraborty provided insights into the creative process behind bringing Bhansali’s vision to life. However, the interview took a poignant turn when Chakraborty addressed the criticism faced by actress Sharmin Segal for her performance in the series.
Chakraborty defended Bhansali’s steadfast commitment to his artistic vision, stating, “Sir has a vision and he sticks to it. Some may not like it, but he doesn’t compromise.” He acknowledged the negative feedback directed towards Segal but emphasized that such opinions wouldn’t sway Bhansali’s approach.
Reflecting on Segal’s efforts, Chakraborty acknowledged her dedication, noting, “I know the effort Sharmin has put in. When working with Bhansali, actors strive to fulfill his vision.” Despite her hard work, he conceded that viewer preferences are beyond their control.
As anticipation builds for the second season of “Heeramandi,” slated for release soon, fans eagerly await the continuation of Bhansali’s cinematic vision on their screens.
