Veteran filmmaker Shankar is currently on a promotional spree for his highly anticipated film, Indian 2. This upcoming movie is a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian, featuring the legendary Kamal Haasan. With Shankar and Haasan reuniting for this sequel of the cult classic, the expectations from fans and critics are sky-high.
Shankar, known as one of the most successful and influential directors in South Indian cinema, recently shared his admiration for a contemporary film that caught his attention. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shankar revealed his deep appreciation for Vikrant Massey’s 12th Fail. When asked to name a recent film he enjoyed, Shankar didn’t hesitate to mention 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Despite his demanding schedule, Shankar made time to watch 12th Fail. He has been engrossed in the post-production work of Indian 2 over the past several months, while also simultaneously working on Game Changer, starring Ram Charan. “I get very little time to watch other movies. Whenever I like something, I do tweet about it,” he shared. Shankar further added, “12th Fail was a very good movie. I enjoyed it a lot.” The film has indeed created a significant buzz across the nation.
Meanwhile, Shankar’s Indian 2 is slated to hit theaters on July 12 after numerous delays. The film’s promotional materials have already captured the attention of both movie buffs and critics. Expectations are high that Indian 2 will replicate the success and cultural impact of its predecessor, making a substantial mark at the box office.
