The 2000 horror romantic film, directed by Sibi Malayil, has surpassed expectations by earning an impressive Rs 5.2 crores in just 17 days—a remarkable turnaround for a movie initially deemed a flop.

The re-release of Devadoothan had a strong debut, collecting Rs 50 lakh on its first day. Of this amount, Rs 30 lakh was generated from the Kerala box office, while the remaining Rs 20 lakh came from other regions in India and overseas markets.
The film, scripted by Raghunath Paleri, features a memorable score by composer Vidyasagar and lyrics by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. The cinematography by Santosh Thundiyil and editing by Bhoominathan have also been praised for enhancing the film’s visual appeal.
Starring Mohanlal and Jaya Prada in lead roles, Devadoothan also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Vijayalakshmi, Murali, Vineeth Kumar, Janardhanan, Jagadish, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Sarath Das. The film’s exploration of themes such as love, music, and the supernatural continues to captivate audiences during its re-release.
