Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona recently revealed that she feared her youngest daughter had been kidnapped during a family holiday in Cyprus with her fiancé, Ryan Mahoney. Speaking to OK! magazine, Katona recounted a frightening moment when her daughter DJ disappeared while they were at the beach. “I got really worried when I couldn’t find DJ. She had wandered into the sea, and I couldn’t see her. My mind went straight to the worst-case scenario, thinking she might have been kidnapped or something terrible had happened,” she said.
Fortunately, Katona soon spotted DJ floating nearby and was immensely relieved. “It was only a few moments, and thankfully everything was alright, but I told her not to wander off without informing an adult again,” she added.
In addition to the scare, Katona also battled norovirus shortly before the trip. Despite feeling unwell, she decided not to cancel the holiday. “I’ve had norovirus this week, which has been terrible timing. It started just before we left for Cyprus, and my symptoms have been coming and going in waves,” she explained. Katona described her condition, saying, “One minute I’m fine, and the next I’m shaking and cold. It’s been on and off all week. At one point, I was concerned I wouldn’t be well enough for the trip, but I still packed everyone’s suitcases while shivering.”
Katona expressed hope that she would recover soon. She had previously shared that she was overcome with emotion when she went on a holiday without her children, revealing that she cried for the last three days of a trip with Ryan before the COVID-19 pandemic because she missed her kids so much.
