Ayushmann Khurrana has taken to Instagram to address the tragic rape and murder case in Kolkata, sharing a powerful video on Wednesday night. In the clip, Khurrana recited a self-written poem titled “Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti” (“I Wish I Were a Boy”), calling for justice for the victim.
The poem struck a chord with many on social media. One user commented, “I’m honestly at a loss for words. The way you’ve woven emotions into each line is truly remarkable. It touched my heart deeply.” Another thanked the actor, saying, “Thank you for speaking out against this heinous crime,” while a third emphasized the need for more people like him to advocate for justice.
The horrific incident that has shaken the nation occurred at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A 31-year-old female PGT doctor, a second-year student in the chest medicine department, was brutally raped and murdered. Her semi-nude body, bearing multiple injuries, was found in the hospital’s seminar hall. The preliminary autopsy report indicated that she was sexually assaulted before her death. Her father has alleged that the crime occurred within the hospital premises.
In response to the case’s severity, the Calcutta High Court has ordered the investigation to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Meanwhile, junior doctors, trainees, and medical students have staged strikes and protests across the country, disrupting healthcare services.
Bollywood celebrities have also raised their voices, demanding justice for the victim. Kangana Ranaut has supported the CBI’s involvement in the case, while Alia Bhatt has shared a post echoing the call for justice.
