Ridley Scott, one of the oldest directors in Hollywood, is still trending today. His film Gladiator, released in 2000, became a mega-hit and won numerous Oscars. The sequel to the film is coming out after 24 years.
The movie begins 16 years after Maximus’ death, with Rome in decline, controlled by two irresponsible young men. Even though the people of Rome are struggling to find food, these two princes send their general to conquer other cities. The commander captures the African Nova region, arrests the commander there (Lucius) and brings him to Rome. There, he is chosen as a gladiator in the Tencil Washington arena and sent to fight.
But, it is only when he goes there that he learns that his mother is a princess and his father is the deceased Maximus. The rest of the story is about the war that happens between those two irresponsible princes and Lucius.”Gladiator” refers to warriors from conquered nations who were forced to fight in the grand arenas of Rome. The emperors and the Roman people would watch these battles for entertainment.
This is the story of Lucius, the son of Maximus, who was betrayed in his own country and forced to become a gladiator. Lucius’ mother sent him to another country for his safety when he was young. But as fate would have it, time chose the prince of his country, and Lucius returned to his homeland as a gladiator.
Lucius, who plays the gladiator, has given a performance as good as he could, and despite his small stature, it’s impressive how he brings down larger figures on the field. However, the skill of Maximus is missing in him.Furthermore, Denzel Washington’s performance as a gladiator trainer in the film is a masterclass in foreshadowing, hinting at his eventual takeover of the entire city of Rome. He delivers this with great skill.
While the film moves with the same energy as the first Gladiator, it lacks the impactful scenes found in the original.Furthermore, while the era evokes images of majestic kings, the director has shown the absurdity of the kings by portraying two children as kings and showcasing their childish antics. This starkly reveals the flaws of the kings, especially the scene where a monkey is placed in the position of a minister, which is truly cruel.
The film’s fight scenes are all very realistic, with many scenes of blood splattering. The cinematography and music

Bulbs For,
The intense scenes from the first part are slightly less in this one.
