Renowned filmmaker Alphonse Puthren, celebrated for his directorial successes such as ‘Neram’ and ‘Premam,’ has stirred controversy with recent claims regarding the demise of veteran actor and DMDK founder Vijayakanth. In an Instagram story, Puthren alleged that Vijayakanth was ‘murdered’ and appealed to actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin to investigate the matter.
Addressing Udhayanidhi Stalin, Puthren stated, “This is for Udhayanidhi Anna. I came from Kerala and sat in the giant red office and told you to get into politics. I also asked you to find out who murdered Kalaignar and who murdered Iron Lady Jaya Lalitha. Now you have to find out who murdered Captain Vijaykanth.”
Puthren went on to claim that Kamal Haasan and Stalin had faced similar threats on the sets of ‘Indian 2.’ The filmmaker warned, “If you ignore this, they already tried to kill Stalin sir and Kamal sir on the Indian 2 set. If you are not going behind the killers now, the killers’ next target is you or Stalin, sir.”
Recalling past interactions, Puthren reminded Udhayanidhi Anna of his support, stating, “You remember giving me a gift for Neram becoming a hit? You called the iPhone center and got me an iPhone Black in 15 minutes. I hope you remember that, Udhayanidhi Anna. Finding the murderers and their motive is even simpler than that.”
The untimely demise of Vijayakanth on Thursday, December 28, due to pneumonia, has fueled speculation and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. The actor had tested positive for COVID-19 and was on ventilator support.
Alphonse Puthren’s recent social media activity has been marked by controversy, including challenging film critics and asserting that his film ‘Gold’ was deliberately sabotaged in theaters, rejecting its classification as a genuine flop.
