Popular South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi, known for his stellar performances, takes on the lead role in the upcoming Hindi film ‘Merry Christmas.’ Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the movie also stars Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif in a prominent role and has been simultaneously shot in Tamil.
Yesterday, on January 7, the ‘Merry Christmas’ team, comprising Vijay Sethupathi, Katrina Kaif, and director Sriram Raghavan, engaged with the press and media in Chennai to generate excitement for their upcoming release.
During the media interaction, a reporter sparked a moment of tension when questioning Vijay Sethupathi about the resistance of Tamilian citizens towards learning Hindi. Expressing his displeasure, Sethupathi recalled a similar inquiry from the same reporter during a previous press meet in Chennai with Aamir Khan a few months ago. The actor responded assertively, highlighting the inappropriateness of questioning an actor about language learning. He emphasized that forcing Hindi upon anyone is unjust, noting that Tamilians are not opposed to the idea of learning another language.
Despite facing several delays, ‘Merry Christmas’ is now scheduled to hit the theaters on January 12. The film is poised for a significant box office clash, as three other major Tamil releases, namely ‘Captain Miller,’ ‘Ayalaan,’ and ‘Mission: Chapter 1,’ are also slated for the same day.
