In a recent interview, Prasanth Varma, the director behind the successful blend of mythological and superhero film ‘Hanu Man,’ revealed insights into the making of the blockbuster. According to a report by Sacnilk, ‘Hanu Man’ has achieved global success, grossing over Rs 235 crore worldwide.
During the conversation with a television host, Varma disclosed that he sought guidance from renowned director SS Rajamouli and approached industry giants such as Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and Jr NTR for the film.
Varma reminisced about his early career days when he reached out to Rajamouli through emails and tweets, expressing his desire to work as an assistant director. Despite his talent, he never received the opportunity and, at times, harbored resentment. However, Varma acknowledged the challenges directors face in making such decisions and drew a parallel to the Dronacharya and Eklavya story, where the student had to learn on his own due to circumstances.
The director highlighted the impact of the ‘Hanu Man’ teaser, catching Rajamouli’s attention. Varma credited Rajamouli for providing valuable insights into the film’s VFX, guiding him on planning shots to conceal any potential flaws or errors.
Varma shared his approach of choosing underrated actors over big names in the industry, emphasizing the importance of the story. Although he approached Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan, scheduling conflicts with their pre-planned projects posed challenges.
Expressing his stance on working with big stars, Varma mentioned the time constraints associated with waiting for their availability, often jeopardizing deadlines. He emphasized that while he is not against collaborating with renowned actors, meeting deadlines is crucial, even if someone like Tom Cruise approached him. Varma emphasized his commitment to working with whomever is available to meet project timelines.
