After a promising start with a collection of Rs 5.6 crore on the first day in India, the film struggled to maintain momentum, accumulating a meager Rs 1.25 crore on its fourth day. This slump has contributed to a total box office collection of Rs 10.80 crore, according to early estimates reported by Sacnilk.
On Sunday, January 28, 2024, ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy rate of 18.97%. Despite the initial buzz surrounding the film, its fourth-day performance reflected a noticeable drop, falling below the earnings of the third day.
Despite high expectations, the film’s financial prospects seem to be taking a hit, with global box office revenue reaching Rs 19.1 crore within the first four days. Mixed reviews and criticisms have adversely impacted the Mohanlal starrer, with a 50% drop in collections on the second day, amounting to only Rs 2.4 crore. Contrary to predictions of a weekend surge, the film’s Saturday (Day 3) collection was lower than the combined earnings of the initial two days, totaling only Rs 1.5 crore.
