During a press conference on February 19, Kiran responded to inquiries about the Oscar consideration for ‘Laapataa Ladies’. She emphasized that the film’s ultimate recognition relies on audience response and box office success, considering the appreciation from viewers and the nation as the most significant accolade for the team.
Kiran explained that if the film receives acclaim, they would consider submitting it for the Oscars next year, highlighting the rigorous assessment process conducted by a specific community tasked with selecting the year’s finest films. ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is produced under Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. Sneha Desai penned the screenplay and dialogue, with additional dialogues by Divyanidhi Sharma. Directed by Kiran Rao, the film is set in rural India and revolves around a young bride who goes missing during a train journey, leading to misunderstandings and investigations.
