Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the iconic film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, continues to be a topic of discussion. Krishnamoorthi recently opened up about the persistent criticism she receives for her role in the movie, shedding light on the ongoing discontent from fans.
Despite the three-decade gap since the film’s release, fans still express disappointment over the ending where Suchitra’s character, Anna, doesn’t end up with Sunil, portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan. Instead, she chooses Chris, played by Deepak Tijori. Suchitra Krishnamoorthi disclosed that social media platforms, particularly Twitter, serve as avenues for fans to voice their disapproval of this narrative choice, often suggesting that Anna didn’t deserve Sunil.
Acknowledging the deep personal connection fans have with ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ Suchitra Krishnamoorthi understands that the ongoing criticism stems from the profound love and attachment fans have for the film, recognizing its significance in many people’s lives.
Expressing excitement over the enduring relevance of the film, Krishnamoorthi marvels at how ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ has maintained its impact over three decades, describing it as a miraculous phenomenon. She credits director Kundan Shah for crafting an unconventional romantic film during that era, emphasizing that despite Shah Rukh Khan’s association, it was Kundan’s vision and creation. According to Krishnamoorthi, Kundan managed to infuse the film with authenticity and honesty, setting it apart from the typical romantic narratives of the 90s.
