Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, co-owner of the Tigers of Kolkata, expressed his enthusiasm for being associated with the team during a recent press conference in Mumbai. Khan highlighted the importance of starting cricket training with a tennis ball and praised the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) for providing a platform for grassroots talent discovery.
The actor, who has strong ties to Kolkata through his family, emphasized his role as a good brand ambassador for the team. Excited about the upcoming ISPL season kicking off on March 6, Khan shared his anticipation for the matches and his commitment to supporting the Tigers.
The ISPL, India’s groundbreaking tennis ball T10 cricket tournament held within a stadium, introduced Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan as the owners of the Kolkata team in January. Scheduled from March 6 to March 15, 2024, in Mumbai, the inaugural ISPL edition will showcase six competitive teams: Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir).
The ISPL aims to revolutionize sports entertainment, incorporating a vibrant musical festival alongside the on-field cricket action. The league promises a fusion of cricket prowess and entertainment with live performances, drone shows, laser displays, and DJ Chetas spinning the latest beats.
As cricket enthusiasts await the thrilling matches, Saif Ali Khan sees the ISPL as a platform to discover and elevate talent from the grassroots, contributing to the growth of cricket in the country.
