Popular television actress Rachna Banerjee has made a significant shift from the small screen to the political arena by joining Mamata Banerjee’s party. Known for her role as “Didi” on television, Banerjee expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter in her life during a recent interview.
“I’ve known Didi for so many years, so when she approached me to join her, I gave it a thought, and then gave my nod. I feel there’s a new opportunity at every stage of your life, and you should always consider it if your heart and mind agree,” Banerjee remarked, highlighting her decision to enter politics.
Despite her new political venture, Banerjee reassured fans that her television and live stage career wouldn’t take a backseat. “Not at all. In all these years of my career, I’ve always balanced my professional and personal lives and will continue to do so. Time management is a very important aspect of life, and I guess I’m not bad at it,” she stated.
Speaking about her upcoming campaign in Hooghly, Banerjee expressed her determination to understand the people’s problems and work towards solutions. She also mentioned seeking advice from fellow actors who have ventured into politics, such as Satabdi Roy and Dev.
Acknowledging the challenges of campaigning in the scorching heat, Banerjee shared her plans to maintain fitness and health. “I’ll try to eat vegetarian food, consume fruits, juices, and coconut water to stay hydrated. I’ll also meditate regularly, do yoga, and prioritize quality sleep. Additionally, I’ll opt for cotton saris and full-sleeve blouses to stay cool,” she elaborated.
Despite the uncertainties of the political arena, Banerjee expressed her readiness to accept any outcome with dignity. “If I lose, I will accept it with dignity. I’ll be back to what I do – television, my business, shows, chilling out with my friends; I’ve nothing to lose at this point of my life,” she concluded.
