In a recent development, Tamil film producer Jaffer Sadiq is allegedly wanted in connection to a Rs 2,000 crore drug racket. Notably, Sadiq is also a business partner with director Ameer in the restaurant industry. Ameer, who is currently directing ‘Iraivan Miga Periyavan,’ a film produced by Jaffer Sadiq, expressed shock at the news and claimed ignorance about Sadiq’s involvement in the drug racket.
In an official statement, Ameer stated, “The recent revelations about Jaffer, the producer of my film ‘Iraivan Miga Periyavan,’ have left me stunned. During the final stages of our movie shoot on the 22nd, filming abruptly ceased, and I learned about the situation through the media. I am still uncertain about the facts surrounding this matter. However, if there is any truth to the allegations, it should be strongly condemned and appropriate actions taken.”
Ameer further emphasized his stance against compromising principles for financial gain in the film industry. He asserted, “I have always been against making compromises with actors and producers for monetary reasons. I want to make it clear that I will not continue working with anyone involved in illegal activities. As I am currently engrossed in film-related work at my office, I will meet with the press and media department soon after obtaining all the details.”
Reports indicate that the international drug racket smuggled pseudoephedrine through air and sea routes. Jaffer Sadiq is allegedly on the run. The Tamil Nadu-based film producer, known for his work on the film ‘Mangai’ under the JSM Pictures banner, is set to release the film on March 1, 2024.
