Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has raised concerns about escalating entourage expenses in Bollywood. Speaking in a recent interview, Kashyap highlighted instances where chefs accompanying actors charged exorbitant fees, citing cases where some demand up to Rs 2 lakh per day for specialized meals.
Known for his realistic and budget-conscious approach to filmmaking, Kashyap criticized what he termed as “outrageous demands” by celebrities today. He recounted incidents where actors insisted on specific dietary requirements, sometimes involving extensive travel for trivial tasks like fetching a particular type of burger from a five-star hotel.
Expressing disappointment, Kashyap attributed these trends to the complacency of producers and agents, asserting such practices do not occur on his film sets. He also noted discrepancies in remuneration within the industry, pointing out instances where hair and makeup artists command higher daily rates than technical crew members.
In contrast, Kashyap praised veteran actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan for their professional conduct. He underscored the need for responsible budget management in Bollywood to curb unnecessary expenditures.
