‘Wicked: Part One’ is an upcoming musical fantasy film directed by Jon M. Chu, based on a script by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz. The film, the first of two adaptations of Holzman and Schwartz’s stage musical ‘Wicked,’ features Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in lead roles, with a supporting cast including Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh.
The film, set in the Land of Oz, follows Elphaba, portrayed by Erivo, a green-skinned woman, as she embarks on a unique journey. Grande plays Glinda opposite Erivo’s Elphaba in the highly anticipated musical, which will be divided into two parts. The star-studded cast also includes Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Keala Settle, Bronwyn James, Adam James, and Bowen Yang.
‘Wicked: Part One’ is scheduled to hit theaters on November 27, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The article concluded with a behind-the-scenes glimpse as Grande wished director Jon M. Chu an “incredible beautiful last day [filming].” The movie officially wraps filming with Erivo, as Chu shared the news on his Instagram Story, anticipating the final day of shooting.
