In a recent appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, 32-year-old star Austin Butler shared his unique experience of undergoing a transformative look for his role in the upcoming film ‘Dune: Part Two’. The actor, who plays the villainous Feyd-Rautha in the highly anticipated sequel, expressed the “liberating” feeling of not having eyebrows.
During the interview, Butler revealed that the decision to go without eyebrows was not a result of shaving; instead, it was achieved with a specially crafted bald cap. The actor explained that director Jeff Nichols suggested the alternative due to time constraints, as he had another job lined up immediately after ‘Dune’.
Butler praised the hair and makeup team for their meticulous work, emphasizing that the creation of the bald cap was a three-hour daily process. He humorously remarked, “You don’t realize how much [eyebrows] weigh you down. I was just streamlined.”
The Golden Globe Award winner joins a star-studded cast, including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya Coleman, and Florence Pugh. In ‘Dune: Part Two’, Butler’s character, Feyd-Rautha, serves as the malevolent nephew of Baron Harkonnen, portrayed by Stellan Skarsgard, and the brother of the sadistic Glossu Rabban, played by Dave Bautista. Notably, the character Feyd-Rautha was previously portrayed by Sting in David Lynch’s 1984 film adaptation of ‘Dune’.
