Oscar winner Colin Firth is in negotiations to join the cast of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film project. The British actor, renowned for his roles in “Pride and Prejudice,” the “Bridget Jones” series, “The King’s Speech,” and “A Single Man,” is set to star alongside Emily Blunt. Universal Pictures and Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment will release the film worldwide on May 15, 2026, as reported by Deadline.
While plot details remain confidential, the film is being described as an “original event film.” Kristie Macosko Krieger will produce, with a story by Spielberg and a screenplay by his longtime collaborator, David Koepp, known for his work on “Jurassic Park” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
Spielberg’s most recent directorial effort was the semi-autobiographical “The Fabelmans,” released in 2022. Firth was last seen in the HBO limited series “The Staircase” and has upcoming projects including the Peacock series “Lockerbie” and Guy Ritchie’s “Young Sherlock” for Prime Video.
