In a spectacular event on the eve of February 16, all roads in the city led to RR Nagar as Sandalwood’s renowned star, Darshan Thoogudeepa, celebrated his 47th birthday. The festivities were particularly special this year, fueled by the success of his recent blockbuster, “Kaatera,” and the exciting announcements of his upcoming films.
Elaborate arrangements were made to accommodate the massive turnout of fans, totaling over 50,000, at a public ground near the actor’s residence. Fondly referred to as “celebrities” by Darshan, fans were treated to exclusive food arrangements, with a standing instruction from the actor that no one should be turned away due to a shortage of food. The venue featured buttermilk counters to ensure everyone’s comfort.
The grand scale of the event required a robust security presence, with 300 police officers, 200 bouncers, and volunteers from various fan clubs enlisted for the day. Extensive preparations had been underway for the past fortnight, according to a source close to Darshan.
An altruistic twist to the celebration was evident, as Darshan insisted that fans refrain from bringing cakes and unnecessary paraphernalia. Instead, he encouraged them to contribute rice, grains, books, and stationery as gifts, which would be distributed to the less fortunate. The actor’s commitment to social causes was further underscored by the presence of a mobile blood donation van stationed outside his home, attracting numerous participants for the noble cause.
