In a conversation with Sucharita Tyagi, Diljit Dosanjh recounted how director Abhishek Chaubey aimed to make ‘Udta Punjab’ more than just a commercial success, despite its high-profile cast. Chaubey wanted to add authenticity by including lesser-known actors, which led to Diljit’s casting.
Diljit shared an intriguing anecdote about how he first learned of ‘Udta Punjab’. After returning from a wedding performance, he saw a post about the movie and felt an immediate connection due to its title. The mention of ‘Punjab’ resonated with him, leading him to believe he should be a part of it. Shortly thereafter, the filmmakers reached out to him, offering the opportunity that would become his Bollywood breakthrough.
On the professional front, Diljit Dosanjh recently made waves with his debut on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’, where his musical performance captivated audiences and garnered widespread praise on social media. Fallon has since invited him back for another appearance.
In terms of upcoming projects, Diljit was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ alongside Parineeti Chopra. He is set to star in ‘Jatt and Juliet 3’ and will play a significant role in Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Entry 2’.
