In the lead-up to the much-anticipated release of Siddharth Anand’s upcoming film ‘Fighter,’ featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, the director sheds light on the recent developments regarding the film’s certification process. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly requested the removal of ‘sexually suggested visuals,’ leading to the movie securing a U/A certification after two necessary edits.
In an exclusive interview with News 18, Siddharth Anand discussed the certification process and acknowledged the need to adhere to the guidelines set by the Censor Board. The director emphasized the organic nature of his films, noting that creative decisions are often made based on what works for the project at that particular moment.
While accepting the required cuts, Anand assured that these edits won’t alter the narrative significantly. He clarified that the removed content is limited to the end credits, downplaying its importance in the overall context of the film.
Addressing the ongoing comparisons of ‘Fighter’ to the iconic film ‘Top Gun,’ Anand expressed gratitude for the parallels, considering ‘Top Gun’ as a renowned brand. He interpreted the comparisons as a positive sign, indicating that audiences are drawing connections between the two cinematic worlds.
Anand defended his film against the comparisons, asserting that ‘Fighter’ is distinctly rooted in the Indian context. He revealed that the storyline is inspired by a real incident that occurred in the country in 2019. The director invited audiences to judge and form their opinions after experiencing the film.
‘Fighter,’ featuring Anil Kapoor alongside the lead cast, is set to hit the big screen on January 25, promising a unique blend of elements from the Indian narrative landscape.
