In a surprising revelation, Bollywood and South Indian film star Genelia Deshmukh’s fan base extends beyond language barriers, thanks to her diverse filmography. While audiences are familiar with her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema, a lesser-known fact is her foray into Malayalam cinema almost a decade ago.
Genelia Deshmukh made her presence felt in Mollywood through the film ‘Urumi,’ directed by Santosh Sivan. Portraying the lead character of Arakkal Ayesha, she shared the screen with acclaimed actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. Their on-screen chemistry, particularly in the song “Aaro Nee Aaro,” has left an enduring impact on music enthusiasts and movie lovers alike.
In an earlier interview, Genelia expressed her admiration for co-star Prithviraj Sukumaran, stating, “I feel Prithvi will be a rage if he comes to Bollywood. He’s got the hunky looks and has good command over not JUST Malayalam but other languages also. So I feel he will do well if he does Hindi films.”
The star-studded cast of ‘Urumi’ includes Vidya Balan, Tabu, Prabhu Deva, Nithya Menon, Arya, Jagathy Sreekumar, Alex O’Nell, and Sasi Kallinga in significant roles. This revelation adds another dimension to Genelia Deshmukh’s versatile career, showcasing her ability to captivate audiences across different regional film industries.
