Kannada actors Harshika Poonacha and Bhuvan Ponnanna have filed a police complaint after reportedly being attacked by a mob during an outing in Bengaluru’s Frazer Town. The incident, which took place on the evening of April 2, gained public attention after Harshika shared her account on social media.
“Two men started a fight saying our car is big and it could hit their vehicle when we take it out of the parking lot… Soon, a group gathered and they tried to snatch my husband’s gold chain,” Harshika recounted in a statement to a publication.
The couple met with Police Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Raman Gupta on Saturday to formally file the complaint.
In a subsequent conversation, Harshika expressed her concerns about the safety of Bengaluru’s residents. “Being a global city, Bengaluru needs to have an atmosphere where everyone can roam around freely without any fear. Incidents like these will make people think twice before they step out of the house,” she said.
Bhuvan, who sustained minor injuries during the incident, emphasized the need for a safer Bengaluru. “We want Bengaluru to be safe so anyone can visit any corner of the city without fear. Public figures like us go through such traumatic experiences, but imagine the plight of ordinary people who don’t speak up,” he added.
