Bollywood actress Kajol, celebrated for her roles in iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and My Name Is Khan, marks her 50th birthday today. Known for her versatility and powerful screen presence, Kajol, a Padma Shri awardee, has been a prominent figure in the industry for over three decades. She is married to acclaimed actor Ajay Devgn.
Kajol and Ajay Devgn first met on the set of their 1995 film Hulchul and dated for nearly four years before marrying on February 24, 1999. Their wedding was an intimate affair, with just 50 guests in attendance. Kajol has humorously recounted her feelings of restlessness during the ceremony and her impatience to expedite the proceedings. In an interview with Curly Tales, she shared that her sisters handled the wedding arrangements, while she enjoyed a stress-free experience, only urging Ajay to hasten the ceremony as it took too long.
Despite her relaxed attitude before the wedding, Kajol confessed to feeling impatient during the ceremony. She recalled urging Ajay to ask the priest to speed things up, saying, “I was not stressed out. I was like, ‘Just hurry up now, I can’t sit here for too long!’” This light-hearted admission highlighted her joy on her special day.
In a separate interview with India Today, Kajol revealed details of her honeymoon plans, which included a two-month tour from Australia to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. However, during their stay in Greece, Ajay expressed a desire to return home due to exhaustion and illness. Kajol described how Ajay, despite her reassurances, insisted on going home, citing his fatigue and a headache as reasons.
Kajol and Ajay’s marriage has continued to thrive. They welcomed their daughter, Nysa Devgan, on April 20, 2003, and their son, Yug Devgan, on September 13, 2010.
