In a recent announcement, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has unveiled plans to empower and support women in the movie industry, enabling them to explore various business sectors, including film production and technology. The Chief Minister made this commitment in response to a proposal from emerging actress Aishwarya Lekshmi during the Nava Kerala Sthree Sadas event at the CIAL Convention Centre in Kochi on Thursday, February 22.
“Steps will be taken to empower women to venture into business sectors like film production in the movie industry. We will make facilities to promote women in film production and film technology in the movie industry,” stated Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
During the event, Aishwarya Lekshmi advocated for government intervention to develop a curriculum introducing film production and technology to the younger generation.
According to a government release, the event in Kochi saw the participation of over 3,000 women from various sectors across the state. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, engaging with women from diverse backgrounds, assured that the concerns and suggestions raised during the event would be treated with the utmost seriousness.
The event also witnessed the presence of notable figures, including Ministers Veena George and R Bindu, sportspersons Shiny Wilson, Mercy Kuttan, and M D Valsamma, along with film personalities Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nilambur Ayisha, and Vaikom Vijayalakshmi. Additionally, senior scientist Tessy Thomas, renowned as India’s Missile Woman, actively participated in the event.
