In recent years, the once-distinct lines between Regional and Hindi cinema have become increasingly blurred, thanks to blockbuster films like the Baahubali franchise, KGF series, Pushpa: The Rise, and Salaar. The impact of South Indian releases on Hindi films’ scheduling is evident, as exemplified by the clash between ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ and ‘Dunki.’ Another potential clash is looming on the horizon this Independence Day weekend, featuring the much-anticipated releases of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham Again’ and Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s ‘Pushpa: The Rule,’ a sequel to the 2021 hit.
Speculation is rife that ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ might face a delay due to a pause in production caused by Allu Arjun’s health-related hiatus. If this proves true, it could pave the way for ‘Singham Again’ to enjoy a solo nationwide release. However, the Independence Day weekend release calendar may see even more excitement, as industry insiders hint at Jr. NTR, last seen in SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR,’ vying for attention with his upcoming film ‘Devara.’ Notably, ‘Devara’ marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, and though initially slated for an April 2024 release, the filmmakers decided to delay it to allow ample time for the VFX team.
The potential clash of titans on August 15 remains uncertain, adding anticipation to the already intense competition. Turning back to the ‘Pushpa’ saga, insiders disclose that the film’s producers are now eyeing a Christmas 2024 release date, given the shoot delay’s ripple effect on various other production departments, leading them to put their work on hold.
