In a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, actor Jamie Dornan entertained the audience with a humorous tale of a regrettable encounter with a horse, unveiling the challenges he faced due to his severe allergy to the animal.
Dornan, known for his role as Count Axel Fersen in a historical drama, recounted a situation from a few years ago when he had to spend the entire movie on a horse, despite being highly allergic. The actor explained that although he appreciates horses as a species, he cannot get too close to them due to his allergy. During the shoot, he experienced severe itching and a breakout of hives, necessitating the use of EpiPens. Concerns even arose about insuring him for the movie due to the severity of his allergic reaction. Dornan humorously remarked, “So if you see me on a horse, I’m very heavily medicated.”
Despite his allergy, Dornan found himself working with horses again in the 2012 historical drama New Worlds. On the final day of shooting, he decided to give a horse a kiss as a gesture of camaraderie. However, this well-intentioned move resulted in his lips swelling up, causing a halt in filming for the day.
The audience at The Graham Norton Show burst into laughter as Dornan shared this amusing story. The actor, known for his diverse roles in various films and series, was last seen in the Netflix thriller Heart of Stone and is set to appear in Season 1 of The Tourist, scheduled for release on Netflix on February 1, 2024.
