Actress Janani is set to portray a journalist in debutant Krishna Kumar’s upcoming untitled hyperlink film, which is slated to begin shooting at the end of this month. The film, featuring Vidaarth and MS Bhaskar, will mark Janani’s third time playing a journalist in her career.
In a recent interview, Janani delved into her role and the film’s structure. She noted that while her previous release, “Hot Spot,” was also a hyperlink film consisting of four distinct stories, this new project will intertwine multiple narratives happening simultaneously. The director provided her with several references to capture the film’s tone and instructed her to watch specific films to better understand the role. According to Janani, the film will blend thriller and mystery elements, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
Reflecting on her participation in ensemble casts, Janani emphasized that the significance of her role outweighs the number of actors involved. She expressed contentment if she can leave a lasting impression, regardless of the cast’s size. Highlighting the benefit of ensemble casts, she mentioned that they attract a broader audience due to the diverse fan bases of the actors.
Janani humorously remarked on her recurring role as a journalist, having previously played similar characters in “Adhe Kangal” and “Hot Spot.” She joked about potentially setting a record for the number of journalist roles she has portrayed, while also pointing out that each character, though sharing the same profession, is distinct in its own way.
Discussing her recent work, Janani revealed that she has completed filming for “Criminal,” directed by Gautham Karthik. In this film, she plays the daughter of Sarath Kumar, who portrays a cop. Her character hails from a rural background and possesses a strong personality. The movie, a murder mystery, revolves around uncovering the identity of the killer. Janani also hinted at being close to finalizing another script soon.
When it comes to working alongside seasoned actors Vidaarth and MS Bhaskar, Janani expressed both admiration and nervousness. She praised Vidaarth’s talent and acknowledged MS Bhaskar as a veteran actor whose extensive experience and skills set a high bar.
