In a recent interview with the Manorama channel, Jayaram, the lead actor of Midhun Manuel Thomas’s latest Malayalam film ‘Abraham Ozler,’ revealed intriguing details about the casting process for the pivotal role of Alexander in the movie. The film, celebrated by audiences and marking Jayaram’s return to the Malayalam industry, showcases a notable cameo by Megastar Mammootty as Alexander.
During the interview, Jayaram shared insights into the casting decisions, disclosing that Mammootty was not the initial choice for the role. The filmmakers initially considered various actors, including Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and even Suresh Gopi, along with prominent figures from the Kannada and Telugu film industries.
A surprising turn in the casting journey took place when director Midhun Manuel Thomas coincidentally encountered Mammootty, who expressed a keen interest in the film’s storyline. Despite Midhun’s initial hesitation and declining the offer, Jayaram, who had previously shared the story with Sathyaraj and considered Suresh Gopi for the role, believed that Mammootty would bring a unique essence to Alexander’s character.
Encouraged by Jayaram’s conviction, Midhun approached Mammootty once again, and this time, the acclaimed actor agreed to take on the role of Alexander in ‘Abraham Ozler.’ The collaboration between Jayaram and Mammootty added an unexpected layer to the film, contributing to its success and earning positive reviews from audiences.
Meanwhile, ‘Abraham Ozler’ stands as a magnificent comeback for veteran actor Jayaram in the Mollywood industry. Reportedly, the movie has surpassed the Rs 5 crore mark in just two days, further solidifying its success at the box office.
