Jennifer Garner experienced an unforgettable first visit to San Diego Comic-Con due to an incident in a hotel elevator. The actress attended the event to celebrate her cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” where she reprised her role as Marvel superhero Elektra.
During the day, Garner boarded an elevator at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California, and found herself stuck alongside other people. She documented the situation in a series of videos shared on Instagram.
In the first video, Garner said, “Hey guys, um, we’re stuck on this elevator. I could use a Wolverine, I could use a Deadpool. I could use someone.” Eleven minutes into the ordeal, she commented, “It’s toasty. I’m sphitzy, I need to blot.” Garner kept her spirits up, joking, “Don’t cut the blue wire is what we’re hearing.”
At the 35-minute mark, Garner sat on the floor, referencing advice from TV shows, “I think I heard on an episode of The Office or Brooklyn Nine-Nine or something that you’re supposed to sit. So we’re sitting.” As the wait continued, she sang “99 Bottles of Beer.” At 45 minutes, Garner mentioned they had called 911 for help.
The saga extended beyond an hour, and Garner shared that the lights were back on as she began to sing Madonna’s “Like a Prayer,” a song featured in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The ordeal ended after an hour and 12 minutes when firefighters pried open the elevator doors, leading everyone to cheer as they were finally rescued.
The incident drew reactions from several celebrities. Nathan Fillion commented, “Terrifying,” while Tracee Ellis Ross said, “Oh my! Well done on staying calm.” Gina Torres added, “OMG! Let that be a lesson to all you kids out there! Always pray to Madonna!” Gwyneth Paltrow noted, “Okay, no way oh my god how are you so calm,” and Aisha Tyler exclaimed, “OH MY GOD BEYOND.”
