In a remarkable turn of events, Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner is gearing up to return to work just one year after a harrowing snowcat accident on New Year’s Day. The incident, which occurred while Renner was engaged in snow plowing near his residence, resulted in the actor sustaining significant injuries, including a staggering 30 broken bones. Emergency surgery in the ICU was required to save his life.
Approaching the one-year mark since the life-threatening accident, Renner took to Instagram Stories to share a post from his “Mayor of Kingstown” co-star Emma Laird. The post featured a picture of Laird with Renner, expressing excitement about being back with her “favorite guy” in the upcoming week. Renner confirmed the return in his comment, stating that it’s indeed happening.
“Mayor of Kingstown,” a series created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, casts Renner in the role of Mike McLusky, who serves as a mediator between criminals and law enforcement in the city of Kingstown. Emma Laird co-stars as Iris, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Dillon, Yalor Handley, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Aidan Gillen. Renner also holds the role of executive producer alongside other key figures.
Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, “Mayor of Kingstown” has garnered success with audiences, boasting a 90% approval rating from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. The second season, while seeing an improvement in critical standing to 50%, witnessed a remarkable increase in its audience score, reaching an impressive 93%. In September, the show’s fate was confirmed with the announcement of its return for a third season. Currently, the first two seasons are available for streaming on Paramount+, with Season 3 awaiting a premiere date.
Renner’s involvement in the 2023 show “Rennervations,” a Disney+ reality series where the actor collaborates with celebrity friends to reimagine purpose-built vehicles, remains uncertain, as the show has not been either renewed or canceled at this time. Meanwhile, Renner has been working on music inspired by his own recovery from the snow plow accident, adding another dimension to his multifaceted career.
