In a memorable moment during his Madison Square Garden concert on Tuesday night, Justin Timberlake paused his performance to honor legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The singer, visibly enthusiastic, addressed the audience with admiration.
“I hope this doesn’t embarrass him too much, but I’m sorry, man, I gotta do this,” Timberlake said from the stage. “The GOAT came to see me, the one and only Martin Scorsese. So many family and friends but … I see some new faces, too.”
Scorsese, who was among the crowd, responded with a warm smile, a wave, and a characteristic adjustment of his glasses, prompting a roar of applause from the audience.
Also spotted in the audience was Timberlake’s wife, actress Jessica Biel. Timberlake is set to perform one more show at the iconic venue tonight.
These concerts follow a tumultuous week for Timberlake, who was recently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Despite this, his performances have continued to draw enthusiastic crowds, and his tribute to Scorsese added a special highlight to the evening’s show.
