The Stellar Team
What makes ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ special is the combination of a good director (Badar Mehmood), a good writer (Farhat Ishtiaq) backed with an equally good cast. Mehmood hits it out of the park and how. Not even for a single moment he loses track and diverts the attention of viewers towards unnecessary tracks. He brings out the raw, real and vulnerable moments of Mustafa and Sharjeena so well that viewers were rooting for them every week. Ishtiaq beautifully captures the nuances of two people who unite under unforeseen circumstances, but what sets it apart is how they look at it and overcome it too.
The Dynamic Performances
Fahad Mustafa is a gifted actor and he must work on TV more often now. ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ wouldn’t be what it is without him. His act is an example for young actors of how to carry the responsibility of an entire project to perfection. Hania Aamir scores her career-best act so far. ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ has done for her what ‘Tere Bin’ did for Yumna Zaidi. Ditto for Emmad Irfani, this is a game-changer for him as well. No one could have played Adeel the way he did. We haven’t seen a handsome villain on TV like him. Naeema Butt is a revelation. She performed her act with perfection, her walk, talk and presence were truly captivating. The supporting parts were equally good too.
The Loose Ends
One of the major plot twists of the enterprise were Rubab’s allegations towards Mustafa and Sharjeena for stealing her money. This remained unsolved and how? There’s a scene in the finale episode where Mustafa’s father admits his rude attitude towards Mustafa throughout his life. He didn’t mention when and how he came to know that Mustafa was innocent and Rubab was the culprit. Rubab did wrong with everyone and she got away with it so easily? No penalty, nothing, Why? Sidra (Maya Khan) was a strong character initially but she slowly vanished as if she wasn’t there. She was a bowl of sugar throughout but never took charge. She was simply wasted.

Keeping the loose ends aside, ‘Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum’ ends up with a soul satisfying finale. This one will stay in our hearts forever.
