In a recent announcement, European Film Promotion (EFP) revealed the ten up-and-coming actors set to be honored as EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS 2024. The prestigious list includes Katharina Stark, who will represent Germany in the 27th edition of the event.
Chosen by an international jury of industry experts, the EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS 2024 also feature talents such as Thibaud Dooms (Belgium), Margarita Stoykova (Bulgaria), Suzy Bemba (France), Salome Demuria (Georgia), Éanna Hardwicke (Ireland), Valentina Bellè (Italy), Džiugas Grinys (Lithuania), Kamila Urzędowska (Poland), and Asta Kamma August (Sweden).
Katharina Stark, a graduate of the renowned Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, has garnered attention for her roles in TV movies, films like Anna Roller’s “DEAD GIRLS DANCING,” and stage performances at the award-winning Münchner Kammerspiele theatre. Currently, she is captivating audiences as the Polish interpreter Eva Bruhns in the German Disney+ original mini-series “THE INTERPRETER OF SILENCE.”
The jury praised Stark’s performance, stating, “Katharina executes an emotionally charged and demanding role with ease. Her character’s depth is conveyed through a performance that is both understated and compelling.”
Expressing her excitement, Katharina Stark stated, “I’m beyond honoured and excited to be this year’s German European Shooting Star. I’m especially grateful for this exceptional opportunity to meet all of the great talents at the Berlinale. I’m also very much looking forward to the encounters, creative conversations and exchanging ideas.”
The EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS 2024 will be presented to the international film community during the Berlinale’s first weekend, taking place from February 16 to 19, 2024. The program will include events and workshops where the talents will interact with casting directors, agents, directors, producers, and the media. The highlight of the event will be a glamorous awards ceremony at the Berlinale Palast on Monday, February 19, 2024, where each actress and actor will be honored with the EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS Award.
The EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS initiative is made possible through the support of Creative Europe – the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, the German Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media, the Berlin International Film Festival, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and Spotlight, along with national film promotion institutes and film centers from the Shooting Stars’ home countries (EFP’s member organizations).
German Films, a founding member of EFP, is responsible for organizing the EUROPEAN SHOOTING STARS selection and presentation for the 27th consecutive year.
