Kim Kardashian is set to take on the role of executive producer and feature prominently in a forthcoming three-part documentary centered around Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor. Commissioned by BBC Arts and produced by Passion Pictures, the documentary, tentatively titled ‘Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar,’ is expected to delve into the life and legacy of the legendary actress.
Alongside Kardashian, the documentary’s executive production team includes Kari Lia and Hamish Fergusson. The series promises exclusive insights from those closest to Elizabeth Taylor, including family members, friends, and colleagues spanning her illustrious career. It aims to shed light on Taylor’s transformative journey from a child star to the world’s highest-paid actress and her significant impact on Hollywood and the concept of fame itself.
Elizabeth Taylor, a Hollywood luminary of the 1950s, will be portrayed through the lens of her eight marriages, extravagant jewelry collection, romantic escapades, and her activism, all of which often fueled media gossip during her time in the spotlight.
The documentary will showcase Taylor’s remarkable evolution from a Hollywood trailblazer to a billion-dollar businesswoman, activist, and advocate. Dr. Anthony Fauci, who collaborated closely with Taylor in her AIDS advocacy, will provide insights, along with Kardashian, who conducted the final interview before Taylor’s passing in 2011 at the age of 79. The late Joan Collins, a friend and contemporary, will also be featured.
Dakota Johnson’s humorous monologue on a Saturday Night Live episode, featuring Taylor Swift, will be part of the documentary’s narrative.
“Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter. She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint,” remarked Kim Kardashian.
Alistair Pegg, the commissioning editor at the BBC, expressed enthusiasm for the series, stating, “This exciting series promises a new understanding of Elizabeth Taylor – both her technique and power as an actor, and her capacity for reinventing herself.”
