Kishen Bilagali, a resident of Bengaluru, has never known a life without animals by his side. Raised in Chikkamagaluru on a farm, Kishen’s family has always been immersed in animal care.
“My dad’s a farmer, so we’ve always been surrounded by all sorts of animals. Also, my brother is a pet groomer, so he’s always around them, too,” Kishen shared.
Moving to Bengaluru at the age of 16, Kishen found solace in his pet, Panther, which helps him combat feelings of loneliness. “I don’t feel like I’m alone because of my pet, Panther. It’s like I have someone to take care of, and vice versa. The best part about being a pet parent is the happiness that comes with them. I can have a long and tiring day, but the minute I’m home, Panther showers me with so much love and it all feels bearable,” he said.
Highlighting his family’s commitment to animal welfare, Kishen mentioned, “Back home, we have 10 dogs, out of which eight are rescued. A lot of people buy big breeds and then give them up when they realise it’s hard work to take care of them. So we rescue them and take them back to the farm where they can live a happy and healthy life.”
