Director Lingusamy recently opened up about his past issues with Mollywood superstar Mammootty during the filming of their 2001 Tamil movie, ‘Aanandham’. In a candid interview with a YouTube channel, Lingusamy acknowledged that the differences might have arisen due to his inexperience as a debutant director.
Reflecting on the challenges he faced, Lingusamy admitted to being particular about certain aspects of the film, given it was his first project. He mentioned that he could have benefitted from heeding Mammootty’s advice, as the seasoned actor’s occasional anger is short-lived.
Interestingly, Lingusamy shared a recent conversation he had with Mammootty after watching the trailer of the actor’s upcoming horror thriller, ‘Bramayugam’. During their chat, Mammootty inquired about Lingusamy’s unique film, ‘Kaathal: The Core’, saying, “Who will do a film like that? Is there anyone who can do it?” Lingusamy attributed this to the actor’s ego, adding, “Only if it’s there, he is Mammootty.”
Furthermore, Lingusamy addressed rumors regarding the financial success of the film ‘Uttama Villain’, which he produced for Kamal Haasan. Contrary to speculation, the movie incurred a significant financial loss for his production house. However, Haasan assured Lingusamy that they would collaborate on another project to offset the losses.
