In a recent announcement, Disney+ Hotstar revealed that the Malayalam survival thriller “Manjummel Boys” is set to have its digital premiere on their platform. The film, written and directed by Chidambaram, made its theatrical debut on February 22 in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, garnering widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics alike.
Notably, “Manjummel Boys” has also achieved the milestone of becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film, raking in over Rs 200 crore. This achievement surpasses the previous record set by “2018”, India’s official entry to the 2024 Academy Awards.
The streaming giant took to social media to share the news about the movie’s upcoming premiere. Produced by Parava Films and based on a true incident, “Manjummel Boys” follows the story of a group of friends from the small town of Manjummel near Kochi, who decide to take a vacation to Kodaikanal.
The film features an ensemble cast including Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr, Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu.
As of its 54th day at the box office, “Manjummel Boys” continues to perform well, collecting an impressive Rs 22 lakhs.
