In a recent revelation, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn hinted at a potential revival for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the highly anticipated release of ‘Deadpool 3,’ starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Vaughn, known for directing ‘X-Men: First Class,’ expressed excitement over snippets he had seen from the Shawn Levy-directed film, describing them as “unbelievable.”
During an appearance on BroBible’s Post-Credit podcast while promoting his latest movie ‘Argylle,’ featuring Henry Cavill, Vaughn shared insights into the upcoming Reynolds-Jackman collaboration. He emphasized the dynamic between Deadpool and Wolverine, stating, “The few snippets that I know about Deadpool vs. Wolverine…are unbelievable.”
Vaughn predicted that the clash between Reynolds and Jackman would serve as the much-needed “jolt” to breathe life back into the MCU, suggesting that “Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”
‘Deadpool 3’ is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26 this year. Despite not being directly involved in the third installment, Vaughn, a genuine fan of the X-Men, expressed his desire for the movies to meet the high standards set by the iconic superhero series.
The production of ‘Deadpool 3’ faced a setback due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, delaying the film’s progress. Jackman, who previously portrayed the adamantium-clawed mutant in nine films spanning from ‘X-Men’ to ‘Logan,’ joined the ‘Deadpool’ franchise, adding further anticipation to the upcoming release.
Notably, the ‘Deadpool’ films have achieved significant commercial success, becoming the highest-earning titles in the ‘X-Men’ franchise with a global box office gross exceeding USD 780 million. Despite hurdles in production, fans eagerly await the cinematic clash between Deadpool and Wolverine as a potential game-changer for the Marvel universe.
