Celebrating the 18th anniversary of ‘Taxi No 9211’ on February 24, director Milan Luthria recently shared insights into casting Nana Patekar and John Abraham after ‘Ab Tak Chhappan.’
Luthria revealed that he eagerly approached Nana Patekar and John Abraham for the roles, recounting the amusing encounter with Nana. Despite the initial confusion over the caller’s identity, Milan swiftly arranged a meeting at the Worli shooting range, highlighting Nana’s spontaneous nature. At the range, Nana, known for his skill in gun firing, agreed to join the film after hearing the script during a Sea Face walk.
After securing Nana Patekar, Luthria contacted John Abraham, his first choice for another role. John initially hesitated, but with the persuasive presence of Bipasha Basu, who joined the meeting unexpectedly, he eventually agreed. A lighthearted moment with Pooja Bhatt further added humor to the situation.
Within 24 hours, Milan successfully enlisted both actors, surprising producer Ramesh Sippy with the swift developments. Milan emphasized the deliberate casting of opposites, highlighting the stark differences between Nana Patekar and John Abraham.
